Home security alarm system

Do you really need one?

Despite the fears most of us have over possible crimes being committed in our homes, many take the complacent or skeptical view of home security systems, and their effects on crime prevention. Do they really work? Is just having a system enough to ward off crooks? Will intruders really flee at the first sound of an alarm? Well, the answers to all of these are yes.

Despite advances in burglary tools that give skilled crooks a fighting chance at getting into well guarded houses, and neutralizing home security alarm equipment, the fact is that crooks is still much more likely to target homes without protection that ones with protection, and on top of this, not all crooks are skilled, let's not deny it.

Home security alarm systems prevent burglaries, the facts don't lie

An estimated $5 Billion is lost annually in thefts, and just under 2/3 of these burglaries are conducted in private residences, and not corporate sites. Why do criminals not target commercial establishments at a higher rate, considering they have a vastly superior amount of goods to be pilfered? Security, plain and simple. Most stores are equipped with alarm systems, and many also have security cameras, making them highly undesirable targets. Now imagine your home equipped with these same prevention tools, and with even less incentive, in the form of merchandise, for a burglar to want to rob it. Not likely a burglar is going to bother with your house is it? If they were willing to tangle with such danger, they'd be better off hitting up the local jewelry store, and at least making the risk worth their while.

The FBI has stated that the majority of burglaries are committed on houses with inadequate or non-existent home security alarm systems, a veritable piece of cake for a skilled thief.

The two things thieves fear most are noise and time. When one or both of these elements are working against them, they are more likely to either panic and flee, or do a shoddy job of their work and likely get caught a short while later.

As many who avoid committing to home security systems would state, a home alarm system can not actually prevent someone from breaking in. While this may be true literally, if someone wants into your house bad enough nothing will stop them, it is not true theoretically. If you're home security system makes a thief target another house in your neighbourhood out of fear of your security system, than it has prevented a break-in. You just wont know it.

That though is the way it should be. No fear, no notion of the dangers of the outside world possibly encroaching into your safe haven, or even considering a jaunt into your comfortable abode, just the peace of being secure in your home with your trusty home security alarm system.
